Experience Designer at Adobe

As an interaction designer and learning enthusiast, Vergil Shi has been exploring and conceptualizing design and art innovations at the junction of abstract expression and absolute rationality.

He is currently an experience designer at Adobe, working on improving the user experience of Photoshop, to help global creative artists reimagine the future. He enjoys being a team player to communicate and collaborate with his amazing teammates. Check out the new features the Photoshop team shipped at Adobe MAX 2022.

BFA at California College of the Arts

Vergil achieved his BFA degree in Interaction Design at California College of the Arts in San Francisco and Oakland. He studied under Haakon Faste, Christina Wodtke, Aynne Valencia, Erin Malone, Hugh Dubberly, Scott Thomas, Renna Al-Yassini, Christina Worsing, Nicholas Pajerski, and Amy Bickerton.

 

UX Design Intern at TIBCO Software

As a UX design intern at TIBCO Software, Vergil practiced redesigning splash screens and dashboards of advanced analytics software, collaborating with other designers to design, create, and refine icons and screens, using design tools to create wireframes, visual design, prototypes, and delivering specs to developers. He also made swag design for the recruitment team.

 

UX Design Intern at designaffairs GmbH

Vergil worked as a UX design intern at designaffairs Shanghai (Accenture Song). He helped sketch futuristic and conceptual scenarios and storyboards, designed product and event posters, invitation letters, and presentation slides to improve communication, and facilitated design research and focus groups for international clients.

 

Sponsored Project Student Designer at Ford

In an interaction design class project sponsored by Ford, Vergil worked with his teammates, applied their knowledge and skills of user experience, storyboarding, and video editing, to look at how Ford might elegantly mitigate the impact of its energy-dependent products and increase private clean energy solutions in the city of San Francisco. They presented the final works at Ford Research and Innovation Center in Palo Alto.

Nominee at The Webby Awards

Photoshop on the iPad, which Vergil participated in designing as a member of the Adobe Design team, has been nominated for the Apps and Software, Services & Utilities category at the 24th Webby Awards 2020. This nomination is a great honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team involved in its development.

 

Kikkerland China Design Challenge 2014 Finalist

In pre-college, Vergil’s work was one of 36 finalist designs selected from 982 nationwide submissions at Kikkerland China Design Challenge 2014, hosted by Beijing Design Week and China Red Star Design Award.
